Word: All a man’s ways seem right to him, but the LORD evaluates the motives. Proverbs 16:2
Thought: How often do we do good things to please people or to seek attention – do we have a proud heart in doing good. Sometimes as a christian organization or church we do programs for the sake of accomplishments or for publicity – is the Lord pleased in these? Our God is a God who seeks love in doing things and directly sees our hearts and minds and not the outward action we do. Let us not try to please men , but please God. We don’t need to appear/act as a righteous person in Church or a group of believers and living a different lifestyle elsewhere – there is no double standard in the kingdom of God, it is either good or bad. Whenever we do good, let us do it from the heart – whenever we do a role in Church, let us do with our heart and mind and do it as unto the Lord and not unto men or because somebody is seeing us. When our motives is God, the Lord will reward us accordingly and when our motive is not good, the Lord will not consider it as the Lord says to Jeremiah “I, the Lord, search the heart,I test the mind,Even to give every man according to his ways,According to the fruit of his doings.” Let us do everything going forward with our hearts and minds, else let us not do it for the sake of doing it or to please others.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to do things which are pleasing in thy sight with all my heart and mind and to please you and not to please people around us. Amen.
