Question: “Where now is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” he asked 2 Kings 2:14

Answer: The Lord had chosen Elisha to be Elijah successor, Elisha was called by Elijah to be his servant. We read one of the King’s officials said “Elisha … He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.” 2 Kings 3:11. Just before Elijah was taken to heaven, Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up and struck the Jordan River with it. The water divided to the right and to the left. 2 Kings 2:8. After Elijah was taken, which Elisha saw and he got Elijah’s cloak – He took the cloak that had fallen from Elijah and struck the water with it. “Where now is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” he asked. When he struck the water, it divided to the right and to the left, and he crossed over. 2 Kings 2:14

Elisha was confident about God that Elijah had served, do we have this testimony in our home? Will our children in their tough times, tell the Lord of my Daddy please help? Why miracles of these kinds do not happen today, is it because we do not walk with God like Elijah. James 5:17 says “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently” So we are not having a fervent prayer life. A tree’s strength and its fruitfulness are dependent on its roots, which is not seen by anyone. The same way all depends on our intimate walk with the Lord. Where is the God of Elijah? Can our close friends and family replace Elijah name with our name?

Lord, help us to have a fervent prayer life. Let people around see Jesus in our life. Amen.
